that actually occurred to me the other day. Problem is you still need to find a way to engage your audience in your lawyer blog.

Donna, I know one lawyer who has several blogs. Two are geared toward his practice area. One is very infomral where he just expresses himself, in any way he sees fit. The different voices or messages seem to work well for him.

Donna-

Great point about the CLE presenters. Just because material and subject matter is serious doesn't mean you can't find ways to make it interesting or engaging.

As lawyers, we are almost constantly concerned with our "professional" image. As legal bloggers, it's hard to cut loose, knowing (or at least hoping) that what you write will be read by a large audience, some of whom you hope will eventually become your clients. It's important to find that voice that both engages your audience and conveys authority. I often rewrite my blogs many times to try to find the balance, but it is important, otherwise you will lose your readers in dry material. Try to think about CLE presenters you have experienced. Which ones did you learn from the most - the ones who sat on the platform and recited case law, or the ones who are dynamic, funny and who get up and walk around?
