Ever want to know a little bit more about the sites that come up for specific terms?

I encourage you to discuss, comment, and challenge my reviews.
Today’s keyword: “law firm marketing”.
Google Keyword Tool (Exact Match U.S. Local Search Volume October 2009): 5,400 searches
Difficulty: 62/100
Results 1 – 10 of about 13,900,000:
1. Law Firm Marketing – Marketing for Law Firms
Ranking Page: http://www.hg.org/marketing.html
From the site: HG.org was one of the very first online law and government sites. It was founded in January of 1995 by Lex Mundi, a large network of independent law firms. HG.org objective is to make law, government and related professional information easily accessible to the legal profession, businesses and consumers. HG’s leadership for over more than a decade has positioned it as one of the most trafficked legal sites. More than 850,000 unique visitors come to the sites each month.
Our take: While HG.org definitely provides a lot of law-related information and resources, it seems to us that the main thrust of their site is legal directories.
2. LawMarketing Portal, law firm marketing, legal marketing, lawyer …
Ranking Page: http://www.lfmi.com/
From the site: This site is owned and operated by Larry Bodine of Glen Ellyn, IL. Larry is one of the country’s leading experts in law firm marketing. He has assisted law firms from 3,000 attorneys to sole practitioners develop their marketing strategy, formulate individual marketing plans and revamp their Web sites. For more information see www.LarryBodine.com.
Our take: We are big fans of Larry. The Law Marketing Portal is one the places we frequent to stay up-to-date on developments in the legal marketing industry. Larry is certainly one of the country’s leading experts in law firm marketing.
3. Law Firm Marketing | Internet Marketing and SEO for Lawyers and …
Ranking Page: http://lawfirmmarketing.net/
From the site: LawFirmMarketing.net is a full-service Internet Marketing firm in the legal industry.
Our take: As a full-service internet marketing firm for lawyers, and in the interests of full disclosure, LawFirmMarketing.net is obviously a competitor of AttorneySync. That being said, kudos to Mr. Smith for choosing WordPress and WooThemes for this site. We endorse both (and we’re not paid to do so). While we don’t know the details and logistics of Mr. Smith’s services, we can say that he ranks-well for his targeted term of law firm marketing (always a good sign).
4. Legal Marketing :: Tom Kane :: Law Firm Marketing for Lawyers …
http://www.legalmarketingblog.com/
From the site: Tom Kane, a former practicing attorney, is the principal of Kane Consulting, Inc., a legal marketing consulting firm.
Our take: Like Mr. Bodine above, Tom Kane is someone we highly respect in the law firm marketing industry. Tom provides great insight on law firm marketing and, as a former practicing attorney, provides great real-world perspective. From business development to attorney coaching, Tom is an excellent resource.
5. Amy Campbell’s Law Firm Marketing Weblog
Ranking Page: http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/amy/
From the site: Amy Campbell’s Web Log [started] as an experiment back in April 2003 as part of a larger experiment by the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School.
[Her] real job is working as a marketing and communications consultant assisting professional services firms (many of them law firms) to create and maintain communication materials and informational relationships that help to gain and keep customers.
Our take: While I must admit that I don’t frequent Ms. Campbell’s blog as much as Larry or Tom’s, I must concede that her Legal Marketing Reader is probably one of the best legal marketing resources on the internet, period.
6. Law Firm Marketing Services provided by Attorneys Online™, Inc.
Ranking Page: http://www.attorneysonlineinc.com/marketing.html
From the site: Attorneys Online™, Inc. strives to create a customized attorney marketing strategy designed to maximize your firm’s exposure. We utilize several different methods to meet our objectives. It all starts with an in depth review of your current legal marketing avenues. We analyze these tactics in order to provide an evaluation as well as to formulate a foundation for the future marketing of the firm.
Our take: Again, we must admit that Attorneys Online™ competes with AttorneySync. While the company seems to focus on design and branding, they offer also SEO services. However, we were concerned that their site emphasizes meta tags, search engine submission, and keyword density. While there is nothing “wrong” with these strategies, they certainly aren’t the most effective and, in our opinion, important parts of SEO. We always advise folks to be wary of SEO companies selling on keyword density and search engine submission.
7. ¤ Law Firm Marketing for Attorneys ¤
Ranking Page: http://www.smartmarketingnow.com/
From the site: Marketing For Attorneys and marketing professional services — like those of attorneys, law firms, and other professional financial advisors — is very different from marketing a product.
Our take: Yep, another competitor. However, they perform a lot “offline” marketing too. We like that they focus on conversions. Too many law firm internet marketing companies focus on rankings and traffic. Sharp looking site, portfolio, and presentations. Not too much info on specific services performed however, very professional-looking.
8. Law Firm Marketing, Legal Marketing and Attorney Websites …
Ranking Page: http://www.seolawfirm.com/
From the site: Legal marketing, law firm marketing, and design
services for attorneys and law firms of all sizes.
Our take: We are impressed by the site design. No, not how “pretty it is” but that it’s designed with usability and conversion in mind. When it comes to site design for new client generation, these guys get it. Appears they have their own blog platform as well. With so many free to inexpensive options for blogging out there, make sure you’re not overpaying. Look like a professional full-service law firm internet marketing company to us.
9. Attorney Website | Legal Websites | Paperless Law Office | Law …
Ranking Page: http://www.attorneycafe.com/index.php
From the site: Attorney Café’s mission is to be the lowest priced, easiest-to-use, legal website builder on the internet for the legal community.
Our take: Looks like they focus on websites for lawyers. Again, make sure you are getting value over free platforms. Do-it-yourself website platforms range from free to thousands of dollars per month. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The key is to make sure your web efforts are generating more revenue than they are costing.
10. Law Firm Marketing for Solo Attorneys and Lawyers at Small Firms
Ranking Page: http://www.lawyerbizcoach.com/

Our take: Poking around on the blog, it quickly becomes clear that Krista has a great grasp of many aspects of law firm marketing. We also really like her pay as you go and monthly pricing options. We believe in giving our clients custom service pricing too.
