If you haven’t done so already, check out Matthew Homann’s (the [non]billable hour) Client Worthiness Index (CWI).
This is a very valuable analysis. In my experience, too many lawyers have a come one, come all, approach to taking on new clients. Taking on a new client with a low CWI, can have many unforeseeable, intangible costs.
Often times, your first impressions and gut instincts, are better than your subsequent rationalizations.
Don’t be afraid of being selective with regard to who you “hire” as a client.
