One of my good friends went out on the town last Saturday night, here in Chicago. As he was walking home from the train, he spotted a green wallet in the middle of the street. He stopped, picked up the wallet, and returned home.
After checking the drivers license inside, he hopped onto Facebook and searched for the girl’s name. He messaged her to let her know that he had found her wallet in the street and gave his phone number so that she could reach him.
She called the next day, over the moon that he had found her wallet and bothered to contact her. She rushed over to pick it up and delivered a bottle of wine in gratitude.
Sometimes……it’s the little things
All day we are immersed in a world of high connectivity, blogging, marketing through social media, etc. Sometimes it’s refreshing to step back and see the little ways these tools can effect our lives positively. I think back to just a few years ago, it would have been a lot more difficult for my friend to be such a good samaritan. It’s good to appreciate the little things….way to go Facebook.
