Facebook and Twitter both recently announced deals with Localeze, a local business listing service that supplies business listing data. According to this Techcrunch article:
Twitter rolled out Twitter Places, its attempt to add a layer of actual venues to its geolocation data. This was made possible by a deal with Localeze, a local business listing service with over 14 million businesses in their database. Now we’re hearing that Facebook has struck a similar deal with Localeze to roll out their own Places area in the near future.
Essentially, what we’re hearing is that Facebook will use this data to populate some new kind of fan pages for places, that businesses will be able to then claim on the network.
What This Could Mean To Your Firm
Twitter and Facebook are making a push to become more relevant to local businesses and service providers. It seems as though they are putting together services to compete with the likes of Google Places or Yelp. Although these are not fully baked yet, it’s good to be informed and aware as the services develop. One area of opportunity you can take advantage of right now is making sure you are registered with Localeze.
How To Register With Localeze
Localeze provides business information to many of the major local search sites and services across the web. You can add your firm to their listing or make sure your firm’s listing has up to date information available. Here is the link to do so. I recommend taking a few minutes to setup your account and make sure your information is accurate and available.
