Law Firm SEO: Will Facebook’s "Like" Button Replace Google?

There has been much talk recently about Facebook’s “Like” button, the Open Graph, and how it could impact web search. While it’s the hot new thing for pundits to talk about, my opinion is that Google web search is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

It is my job as an expert on law firm marketing to stay abreast to changes on the web that will impact the success of my clients. Whether I can get best results using Facebook or Google doesn’t matter to me. What matters is getting results. I say this because as it stands right now, Google is the elephant in the room as it pertains to getting results from the web. While Facebook should be a component of your firm’s online marketing, I still believe that Google search is the key to a successful law firm marketing campaign. The video below does an excellent job of explaining the concepts behind Google search, Facebook’s idea of an Open Graph, and why it’s difficult to see Facebook overtaking Google for all web search.
