Practice Area Pages
Most law firm practice area pages read something like this:
Such and such law firm is a personal injury law firm in such and such location. We have over 100 years experience handling car accident, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation cases. We fight hard for our clients. We focus on the following areas:
- Medical Device Litigation
- Premises Liability
- Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Product Liability
If this is how your practice area pages read, don’t worry, you’re not alone. The overwhelming majority of lawyers take this approach (actually, perhaps you should be worried).
Of course, the problem with this approach is that these pages are largely meaningless to potential clients.
Premises liability? Really? Do you think this is how regular people talk?
Instead, if you insist on having “practice area” pages, write them for you audience.
Instead of premises liability, you should talk about what happens when you get hurt at a restaurant, a parking lot, etc.
Also, focus on the specific issues that people who are injured in like this are facing. Like:
- Missing work after being hurt at Cedar Point
- Paying for my child’s medical care after she was injured at daycare.
Remember, your law firm website is not for you.
Don’t write practice area pages that only you and other lawyers will understand. That’s not want your audience wants.
